Glendon College Centre of Excellence, York University

Toronto, Ontario

Project Description

In 2008, the Government of Ontario named Glendon the Centre of Excellence for French-language and Bilingual Postsecondary Education in southern Ontario. The expansion enabled the construction of a new, award-winning “glass box” building at the front of the campus which houses state-of-the-art language labs, open study spaces, an Amphitheatre, classrooms, and more.

Crossey Engineering provided mechanical, electrical design and our affiliate Consullux provided lighting design for the addition and renovation at Glendon College.

The Centre for Excellence includes a 250-seat auditorium for teaching and special events, a fully equipped interpretation lab and training facility, five lecture halls with tiered seating, seminar rooms with LCD projectors and screens, a student cafe, meeting areas, a large art studio, and a rooftop terrace. The facility is approximately 37,000 sq. ft, including both newly added and renovated spaces.
